Latest News- ACCC rejects Sumitomo takeover of CHH board mills in Australia
- An application was lodged with the ACCC in late 2007 by Sumitomo to acquire the assets of Carter Holt Harvey in Australia. The CMA expressed concern to the ACCC about the possibility of a reduction in competition in the Australian marketplace for supplier board materials and the possible impact this would have on the industry. CMA was advised that the application had been declined and no further advice has been received with regard to the likely sale of CHH in Australia.
- CMA golf day
- The Cabinet Makers Association held its first golf day in many years at the Box Hill Golf Club on Friday 18th April 2008. From all reports all players had a great day and plans are already underway for the 2009 golf day at Box Hill.
- New members - special offer
- A recent decision by the CMA committee has seen the introduction of a special offer to new members. Any business applying for membership who is a current member of a similar association and can provide satisfactory evidence will receive a full credit of the unexpired portion of their membership with the alternate organisation upon payment of a full years membership fee. Any business that is not a member of a like organisation will receive an additional two months membership credit upon payment of 12 months membership fee.
- 2008 Award entries open 15th May 2008
- Expressions of interest from financial members of the CMA will be received from the 15th of May 2008 for entries in the 2008 CMA Annual Awards. The 2008 annual awards night will be held at the Sofitel Melbourne on the 17th of October 2008 in the ballroom.
